Coronavirus restrictions have allowed most public pools to reopen this week, though 50 per cent of each facility’s capacity cannot be filled until midnight. But according to the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the government, 38 pools must remain closed this week for cleaning and disinfection purposes; lifeguard unions reported they are facing the largest staff shortage ever in years, potentially forcing some pools shut entirely.
